Castellanos, Esq.

Jessica Castellanos is a Staff Attorney in the Immigration Project at Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles. She provides full-scope removal defense legal services to individuals in immigration detention centers throughout the greater Los Angeles area. Prior to joining Advancing Justice, she was an Asylum Officer and adjudicated claims of individuals seeking protection in the U.S. Jessica was previously a Pro Bono Coordinating Attorney with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND), where she recruited, trained, and mentored pro bono attorneys handling UAC cases at various stages in the immigration, family, and probate courts. Before joining KIND, she was the first Pro Bono Immigration Fellow at Winston & Strawn LLP's Los Angeles office. As part of Winston's Pro Bono Corps, she maintained a full caseload of immigration-related pro bono matters. After graduating from law school, she was a Staff Attorney at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project in Arizona. She provided direct legal services to non-citizens in immigration detention centers, including weekly "Know Your Rights" presentations in Spanish and pro se assistance. Jessica received her J.D. from UC Hastings College of the Law and her B.A. from UC Berkeley.
