Asian Americans Advancing Justice - LA

Building upon the legacy of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center

Vice President of Program Services

Tang, Esq.

Bonnie Tang is Vice President of Program Services at Asian Americans Advancing Justice-Los Angeles.

Bonnie has been involved with Advancing Justice—LA for over 25 years.  While she was a law student at UCLA, Bonnie was introduced to Advancing Justice-LA where she began working as an intern.  Immediately after law school, she became a Staff Attorney where she provided legal advice and representation for domestic violence survivors and family law clients.  After several years focused on providing individual legal assistance, Bonnie shifted her work, taking leadership of policy advocacy and community engagement projects that addressed issues such as hate crime prevention, language access, voting rights, census outreach and affirmative action.  She has also created youth leadership programming as well as training sessions for immigrant parents who wanted to be better partners for their children in U.S. public schools.

After working in numerous programs areas, Bonnie shifted roles again, joining the organization’s development team where her deep familiarity with Advancing Justice-LA’s programming and its impact on the communities we serve made her an effective advocate as she worked to secure the resources necessary to support its programming.  While Bonnie had an opportunity to step away from the organization for a short time, she rejoined the Advancing Justice-LA to bring her intimate understanding of the organization’s programming and operations to her current role as part of the organization’s leadership team.

Prior to joining Advancing Justice-LA, she was a public school teacher in San Francisco and in Philadelphia. Bonnie is a graduate of UCLA School of Law, received a credential from the Graduate School of Education at University of California, Berkeley and an A.B. from Occidental College.
