One Down, More to Go

One Down, More to Go
Despite Steve Bannon’s Departure, Change Still Needed at White House

LOS ANGELES - Today, the White House announced Steve Bannon is leaving his position as President Trump’s chief strategist and advisor. Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles (Advancing Justice-LA) denounced Bannon’s appointment immediately after the presidential election due to his known agenda against communities of color, women, immigrants, Muslims, and LGBT communities.

As the events of the past week prove, having white supremacist and nativist ideology permeating the nation's top leadership positions has exacerbated the cancer of racism in our nation, leading to chaos, violence, and death. While we welcome the news of Bannon’s departure, there continues to be other influential individuals in the White House who espouse hateful and divisive ideology and rhetoric, including the president himself.

Our nation needs to come together and heal, and the first steps towards that involve removing these other individuals, particularly Sebastian Gorka and Stephen Miller, from their positions. We will #EvictTheBigots from the White House and will continue to fight their policies in the courts, in Congress, and in the streets.

Finally, we call upon all Asian Americans to stand up against white supremacy by signing our pledge
