UPLIFT Organizer

Position Summary:
Advancing Justice-LA seeks an UPLIFT Organizer that is responsible for facilitating the growth (internal and external) of  UPLIFT in order to achieve the goals that further UPLIFT’s mission and vision. This individual is someone who can maintain the big picture strategies of UPLIFT and coordinate day to day activities that maintain the function of the organization. The Organizer will be a team member of  Advancing Justice-LA’s Immigrant Rights Project.
 
UPLIFT is an undocumented Asian and Pacific Islander(API) youth-led organization housed in Advancing Justice-LA’s Immigrant Rights Project.  Asian Americans Advancing Justice – Los Angeles is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
 
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Organizing CORE & General Membership
  • Lead, develop, and execute program, strategies, and campaigns that advance UPLIFT’s mission and vision 
  • Develop and implement organizing model that best supports UPLIFT’s needs
  • Participate in CORE meetings
  • Coordinate outreach efforts in collaboration with CORE members.
  • Facilitate members’ attendance in community events and leadership development opportunities
  • Collaborate with YPLD to expand outreach to undocumented API youth
Coalition Building
  • Represent UPLIFT in coalitions and campaigns
Administrative Support
  • Process reimbursements and other administrative documents 
  • Coordinating financial transactions by keeping track of expenses 
  • Work with the Immigrant Rights Policy Manager on budgeting matters 
  • Write logistical documents for administrative purposes
  • Track deliverables and support writing of grant reports.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
 
Desired Qualifications:
  • Must have 1-2 years of experience in organizing undocumented API immigrants
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but minimum high school diploma/GED with relevant community organizing experience   
  • Strong writing and communications skills
  • Proven capacity to work and thrive in a team 
  • Ability to work with diverse organizations
  • Must have strong familiarity and understanding of UPLIFT
  • Must be knowledgeable about the history of the API immigration movement
  • Must be dedicated to advancing immigrant rights and advocating for social justice
  • Must be up to date with the current political climate regarding immigration
Compensation and Benefits: This is a part-time, non-exempt position (20-24 hour per week). Salary is based on relevant experience. This position is for one year with the possibility of renewal/extension.  Advancing Justice offers a generous benefits package. Parking also is provided.
