Asian Americans Advancing Justice - LA

Building upon the legacy of the Asian Pacific American Legal Center

Citizenship Virtual Review - Project Coordinator

Position Summary: Through the New Americans Campaign (NAC), Advancing Justice – LA is collaborating with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC) to explore virtual review of naturalization applications through the online platform, Citizenshipworks. The project’s goal is to increase the number of LPRs applying for naturalization by developing an inclusive, replicable, scalable model for mobilizing LPRs outside the group-processing model. The goal is for the NAC to then scale this model to communities across the United States, triaging increasing numbers of LPRs first toward a “do it yourself” (DIY) approach using the Citizenshipworks online application platform, then route LPRs who need assistance toward an efficient and innovative virtual service delivery model.

As the primary virtual review partner, Advancing Justice - LA will develop a virtual review model, identify and support virtual review partners across the United States, provide review of applications submitted through the portal as appropriate, and ensure quality controls are in place for services provided under this model. This pilot project will fund a Project Director and Project Coordinator through December 31, 2019; continuation of these positions are contingent on renewed funding.

The Project Coordinator will support the Project Director in all efforts on the virtual review pilot in collaboration with the Immigration Direct Services Administration Director and Citizenship Project Director. This position will report to the Virtual Review Pilot Project Director.

  • Provide naturalization application assistance to LPRs who have created applications on Citizenshipworks;

  • Travel to virtual review partner sites for program development and oversight;
