Happy New Year from Advancing Justice-Los Angeles! We would like to start this year with a giveaway.
Welcome to the second episode of "Connie's Comments," a VLOG hosted by our CEO Connie Chung Joe. On this Giving Tuesday, please consider supporting our work against anti-Asian hate and discrimination. This year your gift will be applied to our Leadership Matching Challenge, which means that every dollar you contribute up to $75,000 will be doubled to make a critical difference in the life of each person we serve.
It’s been one month since I joined Asian Americans Advancing Justice — Los Angeles (Advancing Justice-LA) as its new CEO. What an honor, and challenge, it is to lead the nation’s largest legal and civil rights organization for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI).
On February 26, 2020, we honored our pro bono attorneys, interns, and other volunteers at our sixth annual Pro Bono Advisory Council Volunteer Awards Mixer, which drew over 75 guests to the offices of LimNexus downtown.
As the end of the year approaches, we wanted to keep you apprised of happenings at Advancing Justice-LA, and to announce a leadership update.

For the past few months, our Board has been grappling with Advancing Justice-LA’s financial and operational challenges, including the fact that we had historically underinvested in our systems, infrastructure and professional development resources for our staff.
