Our Voices, Our Health

Part 3: The Road to Recovery

Previously in Part II of An Invisible Illness, Carlos and Myron discussed cultural and linguistic barriers to seeking treatment for gambling addiction. In this final segment, Carlos reflects on his emotional and spiritual journey to recovery through the support of his son. Click here to listen to Part I & Part II of Carlos’ story.

Gambling addiction, similar to other addictions, is a mental health concern. To lose in gambling is to lose more than just money; losing can lead to stress and depression, family strife, and even loss of jobs or educational opportunities. Gambling is more than a bad habit; it is a mental health issue that cannot be ignored.
